Do you ever gift quilts that you make? Making a quilt is such a time-consuming process that you have to be really special for me to gift you a quilt. My in-laws definitely fall into that category. They are two of the most caring and loving people I know. They are two of my biggest supporters in regards to my longarm quilting. My mother-in-law wins top commenter award on all my social media posts! Thanks, Jeanne! My father-in-law loves to see all of the quilts after they are finished. He asks questions about the clients, designs, and my business progress. They owned a bookstore for over 25 years so they are well-versed in owning a small business. I wanted to thank them for their support and encourage them during a difficult time.
My father-in-law loves his flower garden and also birds. So when I found this flannel backing fabric, I decided it would be the perfect jumping-off point. I used the free tutorial from Cluck Cluck Sew and adapted it to a large size quilt. I used the bamboo batting and Cartwheels pantograph from Julie Hirt. I love the texture it gives to the quilt. I used big stitches on binding for a fun element.
This quilt is well loved and used daily, which makes me so happy!
