Longarm Quilting

Rates: Welcome

Welcome to Bound & Blessed Quilt Studio, where quilting becomes art! I am excited to see the different quilting styles and creativity of my clients, and I love choosing designs to complement each quilt. Whether you're a seasoned quilter or just starting out, a traditional or modern quilter, my expertise and imagination will enhance your project by creating a beautiful and personalized quilt that tells your story.

Because you have invested a lot of time into your quilt, I will keep your quilt safe while in my care. I quilt from my home, which is a pet-free and smoke-free environment. I am very thankful for each of my clients. To show returning clients appreciation, I offer free batting (up to $50) on every sixth quilt. I look forward to working with you to create a piece of art to cherish for a lifetime.

Square Inch Price

I charge three cents per square inch for all edge to edge designs.  This includes a new needle for each quilt and a wide variety of thread colors to choose from and fast turnaround times. If you would like, I can also trim your quilt flush and serge the edges so it is ready for binding when it is returned to you.

Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .03 = $160.
My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Custom Quilting

Custom quilting is when different designs are placed in specific areas. Choose between computerized and hand-guided quilting methods, and create a unique masterpiece that reflects your artistic style. Custom quilting is a more time consuming and specialized process, but it can really add extra detail to your quilt. Prices begin at 6 cents a square inch. Price will be based on complexity of the design.

Design

My goal is to make your quilt look beautiful by carefully selecting a pantograph design and thread to complement your quilt top. I love color! Finding a thread that accents your fabric and quilting design is a fun challenge. I currently have over 300 pantographs available and over 100 colors of thread to choose from. The creative possibilities are endless! If I don't have a pattern or thread that meets your needs, we can work together to find what you need to fulfill your vision.

I prefer to use 40-weight Glide thread on both the top and bottom. I like seeing the stitches because it adds texture and interest to your piecing. I love color, so I look to find a thread that accents the most colors in the quilt. With over 100 colors, we will find a color you love! I do have many neutral colors available too. If you have a particular vision, please let me know what color thread you would like. I don't charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price.

I currently have over 300 pantograph designs available. These are just a snapshot of what the design could look like. Changes can be made to the size, spacing, and offset of designs to create a custom look. I want this to be fun for you and not overwhelming! You have the option of having me make the quilting decisions for you. I enjoy the challenge! It all depends on your purpose for the quilt, sometimes "done" is best!

If you don't see a design that matches your vision, you can search any of these websites below. If you find a pantograph that I don't own, I'm happy to split the cost with you to buy it for your project. Search the terms pantograph or edge-to-edge (E2E) to find the right type of designs.

Batting

I use and stock my favorite Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend in white, black poly, 100% wool, and bamboo. One big advantage of purchasing batting from me is that there are no wrinkles like with packaged batting. If you are a mail-in client, purchasing batting directly from me saves you additional shipping charges. Quilters Dream is a high quality batting that will help your quilts last for many years.

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price. I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting, except in the case of special orders. I do carry wool in a king size roll. ($0.64/ linear inch). I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per linear inch. If I do not currently stock the type of batting you prefer, please let me know and I can special order it for you.

For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
  -- 65" of Dream 80/20 cotton/poly blend in white @ $0.41/in = $26.65

- 65" of Dream Black @ $0.33/in = $21.45

- 65" of Dream Bamboo @ $0.41/in = $26.65
- 65" of Dream Wool 100% @ $0.44/in = $28.60

Backing

I require the backing to be 5" extra ON ALL SIDES. For example, if you have a quilt top that is 60" x 80", your backing should measure at least 70" x 90". It can be bigger, not smaller. If a backing is pieced, please use a horizontal seam. It helps the backing to lay more evenly on the frame. If you need me to piece your backing, there will be a $30 fee.

Please press your top and backing for me so that it's nice and tidy and ready for me to load. Please also clip stray threads or raveling fabrics as best as you can. This is especially important with dark threads which may show through your quilt top. You might not be able to get them all, but please don't skip this important step! Also, please mark your quilt top and quilt back with a safety pin or painters tape is you have a definite top. If you are able to square up your quilt top and back before sending, that will also help achieve better results when it is quilted. Extra fees may apply if I need to put extra time and effort into getting your quilt ready to load. If you have questions, please ask.

If you need help sourcing backing fabric, I can help you find just the right fabric to finish your project. If you are purchasing backing, you can have it shipped directly to me to save on postage. I also have some cotton and cuddle backing fabric options available for purchase. Please make note on the Book a Quilt form if you are interested.

Binding

I offer several different binding options. If you have prepared binding, you may include it with your order. If you need me to prepare straight grain binding, please provide one yard of fabric for any size queen or smaller. For a king size, please provide one-and-a-half yards. If you need me to prepare your binding, this is included in the fees below.

- Binding attached to the front only: $0.15 per linear inch

- Binding attached to the front and machine stitched to the back: $0.30 per linear inch

- Binding attached to the front and hand stitched to the back with big stitches: $0.40 per linear inch

- Binding attached to the front and hand stitched to the back: $0.50 per linear inch

With each of my own quilts, I make a decision whether to first machine-stitch the binding to the front or the back, depending on the look I want. If you have a particular preference, please let me know on the form.

Photography

I'm not a professional photographer, but I do my best to take quality photos with my camera. Upon completion of the quilting, I will take photos of your quilt and then text/email you those images to use however you would like. I'd just ask that you credit me for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This extra service is included in your square inch price.

Shipping

I am located in Topeka, Kansas, and I am happy to receive quilts locally, whether you drop them off at my studio, or I provide local pick-up and delivery. I also accept clients through the mail. I recommend sending your materials enclosed in a plastic bag inside a hard-sided cardboard box, to protect against possible moisture in transit. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly. I will provide you with the shipping address after I receive your completed quilt intake form. We don't have to be in same zip code to work together!

Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage when using USPS, but I don't require it.

Other Costs

As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price. I'm required by the State of Kansas to collect sales tax from Kansas residents on my services as well as the batting.

Payment

After the work is complete, I will invoice you via Wave. There will be a link in the invoice for electronic payment. If you are local, I also accept cash or check. I appreciate timely payments that enable me to mail your project(s) back to you right away.
